Information Convention 2025

   

Welcome to compete in Nordic Championships in Karlstad 2025!

Nordic Championships 2025 is a convention for NLR competitions and is open for NLR quartets and choruses. The registration for competition will open on January 1st and the deadline is March 17th for quartets and March 18th for choruses (late entry deadline is April 1st for quartets, April 2nd for choruses).

The form to volunteer as a convention assistant is now able to fill in, use the button Convention assistants. We expect each chorus to provide 10 % of their members. Read about assistants under the button For Choruses.

Update 250112: 
To compete in the regional competition you need to register both with SA and with NLR. Registrations to SA is made via the button link below to the competitor portal, registrations to NLR is made via the button NLR Registration.
Deadline for quartets March 17, deadline for choruses March 18. (Late entry with additional fee April 1 and April 2)
New this year is that you don't need to create separate Lists of competing members for choruses. The list to SA of competing members (found in the competitor portal) is the only list you need to create. Fill in the names of your competing chorus members, send a copy to [email protected], print the list and have all members sign and bring that printed list to chorus briefing on competition day. 

Convention schedule preliminary overview

The NLR quartet competition will start at 17.00 on Friday 16 May. There will be a quartet briefing and the official stage test for the competition in the morning.
The NLR chorus competition will start at 13.00 on Saturday 17 May. There will be a chorus briefing in the morning.
There will be no classes on the Sunday.

Show of champions Saturday evening

The winners, 2nd placed, 3rd placed of each competition Quartet/Chorus will be given the opportunity to perform in the Show of Champions on Saturday evening.  

Practical information about the arena

  • Entrance: Contestants should enter the arena via the main entrance. The arena is open from 8.30
  • Information desk: The information desk is located on the second floor at the arena. Badges should if possible be picked up by one person for the entire chorus/quartet at the same time. For opening hours, please go to start page
  • Personal items: As there is limited space to keep your items during the performance we ask that you bring as few things as possible to the arena. You leave your belongings in your designated room, you can lock it and bring the key with you. The convention committee cannot be held responsible for your valuables, so the fewer you bring to the arena, the better.
  • Banned items: Due to severe allergies, the following items are completely banned at the Arena: nuts, kiwis, citrus fruits, perfumes, nail-polish and hairspray. There will be no areas where nail-polish or hairspray is allowed.
  • Rehearsal rooms for choruses can be accessed from 8.30.

Prize Ceremonies

The awards will be presented in the main hall directly after each competition. Medals will be given to quartets and choruses placed 1st to 5th. In addition, the following choruses will be given medals:

  • 1st place chorus in Division A, 12-25 members on stage (Note! The number of members is changed as of 2025)
  • 1st place chorus in Division AA, 26-50 members on stage (Note! The number of members for div AA is changed as of 2025)
  • Most improved chorus compared to last year's regional competition (This is new since 2024)

The champions will be invited to participate in international conventions as listed below

  • Quartet champion: 20 - 25 October 2025 in Columbus, Ohio USA.
  • Chorus champion: 26 - 31 October 2026 in Columbus, Ohio, USA.

The following travelling trophies will be presented directly after the chorus competitions on Saturday:

  • Most improved quartet - A prize instituted by Snowflake Singers for the quartet who has improved most compared to last year's regional competition
